Warner Bros. Discovery has reorganised its theme parks and attractions into a unified division: Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences. This change, effective September 2024, marks a new phase for fans and industry watchers, streamlining all in-person entertainment — theme parks, studio tours, pop-ups and retail — under one innovative hub.

What’s Changed?

Until now, Warner Bros. Discovery managed its in-person offerings through two separate groups:

  • Licensed Experiences – attractions operated by partners (for example, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal parks).
  • Owned Experiences – company-owned and operated locations (for example, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood).

These entities — Global Themed Entertainment and Worldwide Studio Tours & Retail — are now unified, enabling closer collaboration, faster growth and what executives call an “obsession for detail.”

— Simon Robinson, Warner Bros. Discovery

Industry Trend: Rebranding & Consolidation

The move mirrors a wider trend in themed-entertainment:

  • Universal Parks → Universal Destinations & Experiences
  • Disney Parks & Products → Disney Experiences
  • SeaWorld Parks → United Parks & Resorts
  • Cedar Fair & Six Flags merge under Six Flags Entertainment Corporation
